New Resident Welcome Event
Minnesota’s newest family medicine residents are invited to connect with family physician leaders and residents from across Minnesota and to learn about leadership and grant opportunities. Scholarships from the Arden Anderson, MD, Fund will also be awarded via the MAFP Foundation.

The New Resident Welcome Event is a connection event for Minnesota’s newest family medicine residents.
- Connect with family physician leaders and family medicine residents from across Minnesota.
- Learn about leadership and grant opportunities with the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians.
- Enjoy hors d’oeuvres + a cash bar.
This event also features the Arden Anderson, MD, Fund Scholarship presentation—11 residents (one resident from each of Minnesota’s family medicine residencies) will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

- MAFP resident members who have joined a Minnesota family medicine residency program since July 2023
- Representatives of Minnesota family medicine residency programs
- Representatives of the MAFP

About the Scholarships
Scholarships are made possible thanks to the late Arden Anderson, MD (1926-2004), a family physician from Brainerd, Minnesota, who served as the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) President from 1972 to 1973 as well as chair of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Anderson left a generous legacy gift to the MAFP Foundation to be used to support scholarships for future family physicians, specifically those intending to practice in Minnesota.
At the 2024 New Resident Welcome Event, 11 resident physicians will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Recipients are selected via a random drawing before the event.
