Join the 3,100+ family physicians across Minnesota who belong to the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP), the largest medical specialty organization in Minnesota and the only group in our state devoted to family medicine and serving family physicians.

When you join the MAFP, you automatically become a member at three levels:

  • Join our Research Network, a nonprofit organization of family physicians and other health providers promoting and conducting practice-based research in Minnesota. We also partner with the AAFP National Research Network.
  • Attend and/or present at the annual Innovation & Research Forum, digging into the latest in primary care research and innovation and/or receive feedback on your current research and scholarly projects.
  • Apply for an Innovation or Research Grant or externship from the MAFP Foundation.
Benefits of MAFP Membership

  • Become an Active Member
    This membership level is for practicing family physicians who want to invest in their career, join their colleagues and enhance family medicine.
  • Become a Family Medicine Resident Member
    This membership level is for family medicine resident physicians who are training in an approved residency.
  • Become a Medical Student Member
    This membership level is for students who are enrolled in an approved allopathic or osteopathic medical school. Membership dues are free, but an application must be completed.
  • Become a Supporting Member
    This membership level is for family physicians who do not meet Active membership requirements or non-family physicians who would still like to attend activities and support family medicine.
  • Become a Life Member
    This membership level is for members who have held Active membership for a minimum of 25 years, have had 5 years of continuous membership immediately prior to election as Life members and are either age 70+ OR completely retired from the practice of medicine.
