Promote, Improve and Fight for Family Medicine and Your Patients
- MAFP staff and members are regularly advocating for family medicine and family physicians at the state and national levels. Read the MAFP’s legislative priorities and follow our advocacy blog for regular legislative updates and advocacy resources. See the AAFP’s key initiatives and legislative happenings.
- Get involved in our Resolution Forum (formerly House of Delegates) by writing, commenting, deliberating and voting on resolutions to help guide the work of the Academy and/or raise awareness of issues of importance to family medicine.
- Serve as a volunteer/leader on our Board of Directors or one of our committees/task forces.
- Apply for an Innovation or Research Grant or externship from the MAFP Foundation.

Membership Options
- Become an Active Member
This membership level is for practicing family physicians who want to invest in their career, join their colleagues and enhance family medicine. - Become a Family Medicine Resident Member
This membership level is for family medicine resident physicians who are training in an approved residency. - Become a Medical Student Member
This membership level is for students who are enrolled in an approved allopathic or osteopathic medical school. Membership dues are free, but an application must be completed. - Become a Supporting Member
This membership level is for family physicians who do not meet Active membership requirements or non-family physicians who would still like to attend activities and support family medicine. - Become a Life Member
This membership level is for members who have held Active membership for a minimum of 25 years, have had 5 years of continuous membership immediately prior to election as Life members and are either age 70+ OR completely retired from the practice of medicine.
