Students Connecting with the MAFP...

Student Projects HPV Vaccinations – Rural/Metro Physician Associate Program – At the Community Health Assessment Poster Presentation on July 7, RPAP and MetroPAP students presented their community projects. Externships and Innovation Grants – Want to experience how family physicians can influence, nurture, care for and empower patients in their communities of practice? Then apply to the MAFP Foundation’s summer externship program or apply for an innovation grant to learn first hand what it means to be a family physician and an emerging student leader for the specialty.

Residency Opportunities & Procedure Workshops – This free event for medical students is held annually in the fall. Students can visit with residency program representatives from Minnesota and nearby states. This event also offers procedure workshops.

Student Leadership – Become an MAFP leader by representing your peers as a Student Delegate to the MAFP House of Delegates or serving as Student Director/Alternate Director on the MAFP Board of Directors.

Family Medicine Interest Groups – Funding opportunities and contact information for FMIG groups on each medical school campus.

Join a Committee – The MAFP has eight standing committees which address issues facing family medicine and the Academy. From time to time, task forces are also established to address particular issues or projects.

Loan Repayment/Debt Management – Explore ways to manage your debt and repay your school loans.

National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students – If you are considering family medicine as your specialty, this is the place to go! The MAFP and the University of Minnesota Department of Family Medicine and Community Health team up to provide scholarships for medical students to attend this conference held each summer in Kansas City, MO. Scholarships cover the conference registration, transportation and lodging.
