Serve on the MAFP Board of Directors

Positions Open in 2019

  • Resident Director (1 opening)
  • Alternate Resident Director (1 opening)
  • Student Director (1 opening)
  • Alternate Student Director (2 openings)

Terms and Responsibilities

  • Directors and alternates serve for one year (July 1 through June 30). The Alternate Resident Director is anticipated to serve as the Resident Director for a subsequent one-year term.
  • Directors are voting members of the MAFP Board of Directors and expected to attend quarterly in-person meetings. Alternates may represent their directors at board meetings when requested. (The MAFP assists with travel expenses.)
  • Directors and alternates serve on the MAFP Academic Affairs Committee and expected to attend quarterly conference call meetings.
  • Directors and alternates represent Minnesota at the annual AAFP National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students in Kansas City, MO. (The MAFP assists with travel and lodging expenses.)

Eligibility and Election

  • To be eligible, candidates must be…
    • Resident Director – MAFP member residents in PGY 1 or 2 on March 30, 2019
    • Alternate Resident Director – MAFP member residents in PGY 1 or 2 on March 30, 2019
    • Student Director – MAFP member students in MS 1, 2 or 3 on March 30, 2019
    • Alternate Student Director – MAFP member students in MS 1, 2 or 3 on March 30, 2019
  • Open positions are elected by electronic ballot in the weeks preceding the MAFP House of Delegates.
    • The Alternate Resident Director is elected by a vote of the residency programs (each program casts a single vote).
    • The Student Director and Alternate Student Directors are elected by ballot votes cast by all student members of the MAFP.
  • Election results are announced at the Resident/Student Caucus immediately preceding the MAFP House of Delegates.

Applications for the 2019-2020 board year are due by December 21, 2018.

Be a Resident or Student Delegate

Represent the interests of residents and students at the annual MAFP House of Delegates. Delegates must be members of the MAFP and are appointed by the medical schools and residency programs. If interested, please contact Lisa Regehr in the MAFP office.
