Innovation & Research Project Submissions

Project submissions are due by January 25, 2019.

Project Guidelines

  • Innovation in family medicine and original research
  • Community and participatory projects, descriptive studies, quality improvement initiative
  • Clinical case studies and literature reviews with unique conclusions
  • Who should submit: medical students, residents, researchers, physicians, psychologists and other innovators and researchers in family medicine
  • Someone must be available to present the project on March 2

Format

Present your project in one of two ways: with a PowerPoint presentation at the podium OR as a poster.

Podium Presentations

Each presenter has 15 minutes including Q&A. You can send your slides to lisa@mafp.org by February 27 or bring them on a USB drive to the Forum. The time to load your slides onto the conference center laptops on Saturday, March 2 is 8:00 to 8:30 am.

Posters

Poster setup will be from 8:00 to 8:30 am on Saturday, March 2. Poster size can be up to 91" wide x 45" high. T-pins will be provided to secure the posters to the flannel boards. DO NOT MOUNT YOUR POSTER ON FOAM BOARD. The poster session is from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.

Do the projects need to be complete?

On March 2, 2019, you should be ready to talk about the final data or outcomes of your project. If your project is not complete, you can take part in the poster session to get feedback on your idea or in-progress project.

Project Submission Form

You will be asked for/about:

  • Name, email address and phone number of project submission contact
  • Name, email address and phone number of each presenter
  • Names of others who partnered on the project
  • Names of mentors (for student projects only)
  • SHORT project title
  • Answers to these questions:
    • What did you do and why was it important?
    • How did you do it?
    • What did you learn?
    • What’s next?
  • IRB approval
  • HIPAA compliance
  • Funding sources
  • Financial and product disclosures

Page Time Out Notice: The submission form will time out in approximately 45 minutes. We recommend reviewing the submission requirements on the form, creating your responses in a Word document and pasting them into the form.

All presenters must register for the Forum. There is no charge for residents or students to register.
