The Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) has announced that it is seeking nominations from the public for the 2020 Minnesota Family Physician of the Year.

The award is presented annually to a family physician member who represents the highest ideals of the specialty of family medicine, including caring, comprehensive medical service and community involvement.

“Minnesota is one of the best places in the world to practice family medicine. Each one of our family physician members contributes to this excellent care of their patients and communities,” said Renée Crichlow, MD, FAAFP, president of the MAFP.

“We are looking for that family physician who demonstrates the values we hold dear—one who is compassionate, capable, caring and community-minded. If they are caring for you, please nominate your family doc.”

Nominations will be accepted online at through December 6, 2019. Clinics are encouraged to promote the award and invite nominations with materials in the clinic kit.

Nominators will be asked to describe how the candidate demonstrates compassion and the quality of their professional care and provide examples of community involvement.

The award will be presented during the annual MAFP Spring Refresher, March 28 & 29, 2020, at The Depot in downtown Minneapolis.
