The Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) has announced that it is seeking nominations from the public for the 2019 Minnesota Family Physician of the Year.

The award is presented annually to a family physician member who represents the highest ideals of the specialty of family medicine, including caring, comprehensive medical service and community involvement.

“The MAFP is soliciting nominations for the Family Physician of the Year. Each one of our family physician members is a unique, talented and caring individual and any one of them would be deserving of this award,” said Glenn Nemec, MD, president of the MAFP.

“The award aims to recognize a colleague who is especially good at demonstrating the values we see as being the most important to our profession: compassion, competence and community mindedness. We encourage everyone to nominate their family doc for the award.”

Nominations will be accepted online at through December 27, 2018. Clinics are encouraged to promote the award and invite nominations with materials in the clinic kit.

Nominators will be asked to describe how the candidate demonstrates compassion and the quality of their professional care and provide examples of community involvement.

The award will be presented during the annual MAFP Spring Refresher, March 28 & 29, 2019, at The Depot in downtown Minneapolis.
