Nominees Sought for 2018 Minnesota Family Physician of the Year

The Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) has announced that it is seeking nominations from the public for the 2018 Minnesota Family Physician of the Year.

The award is presented annually to a family physician member who represents the highest ideals of the specialty of family medicine, including caring, comprehensive medical service and community involvement.

“The MAFP solicits nominations for the Family Physician of the Year with the understanding that our members are all interesting and outstanding in their own ways,” said David Bucher, MD, president of the MAFP.

“The award aspires to recognize a colleague who exemplifies the values we acknowledge as paramount: compassion, competence and community mindedness. We encourage everyone to nominate their family doc for the award.”

Nominations will be accepted through January 26, 2018 and can be be made online at

Nominators will be asked to describe how the candidate demonstrates compassion and the quality of their professional care and provide examples of community involvement.

The winner will be announced at the annual Spring Refresher on April 12, 2018, at the Saint Paul RiverCentre.
