Nicole Quinones, MPH
Examining Structural Drivers of Reproductive Health Inequity

Nicole Quinones, MPH
Health Services Researcher, University of Minnesota School of Public Health

In this session, we will examine structural drivers of reproductive health inequities and examine how interpersonal, institutional and structural experiences of discrimination exacerbate health inequities.

Objectives:

  • Identify structural drivers (i.e., racism, sexism and cisheteropatriarchy) that contribute to disparities in access and quality of care for reproductive health.
  • Examine reports of health care discrimination in reproductive health.
  • Identify practice and policy solutions to address persistent inequities.

About the Presenter:
Quinones is a PhD candidate in the Division of Health Policy at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. Her research focuses on how structural inequities arise through health policy and impact abortion and other reproductive health care access and the historical and contemporary role of midwives in birth and abortion care in the United States. She was named an Emerging Scholar by the Society of Family Planning for her work on the impacts of financial stress on abortion patients after the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Supreme Court decision.

Session, objective and presenter details will be added closer to the event.
