New for 2026: A day of advocacy, ideas + impact—from the Capitol to the Academy. Join us for policy discussions, meetings with legislators and member-driven action.

A day of advocacy, ideas + impact—from the Capitol to the Academy.
Minnesota family physicians, family medicine residents + medical students: You’re invited to Family Medicine Advocacy Day in St. Paul.
What to expect: An advocacy briefing + lunch; meetings with legislators at the Capitol, followed by a debrief; and an opportunity to shape MAFP priorities at the Resolution Forum (dinner included).
Come for whichever portion fits your schedule. The Resolution Forum will also be available online.
Now happening the same day: The Minnesota Medical Association (MMA) will host its Physicians’ Day at the Capitol. Attendees are welcome to participate in MAFP’s family medicine-led programming, MMA’s activities or both.
Schedule
12:00 - 1:30 pm: Advocacy Briefing
In person (no online option); lunch included.
Assemble at Union Depot to get briefed on key advocacy issues over lunch. Hear from legislators + MAFP leaders and prepare for meetings with legislators.
1:30 - 3:30 pm: Meetings with Legislators
In person (no online option).
Head to the Capitol campus (via provided shuttle service or on your own) to meet directly with legislators and advocate for issues important to family medicine + your patients.
Register by February 24, 2026, to secure your meetings with legislators. (The MAFP will email your meeting schedule to you on February 27.)
4:00 - 5:00 pm: Capitol Debrief
In person (no online option).
Gather back at Union Depot to reflect on your meetings with legislators, share insights and discuss next steps.
5:00 - 6:30 pm: Resolution Forum
In person or online; dinner included.
Help shape MAFP’s policy + advocacy priorities. Discuss + vote on member-submitted resolutions.
What to Expect at the Forum
At the Resolution Forum, the Reference Committee will present member-submitted resolutions with their recommended action—adopt, not adopt, refer to the board or file for information.
All participants (online or in person) can speak for or against recommendations, suggest changes and vote on each resolution.
Resolutions and voting will be accessible through our Resolution Forum site.
Ways to Contribute Before the Forum
Take part in shaping resolutions ahead of the vote.
- Comment on proposed resolutions, February 11-17, 2026.
Provide feedback via our Resolution Forum site. Comments will be shared with the Reference Committee and help inform final recommendations.

No cost to attend. All MAFP members are invited to participate. (Membership is required for participation.)

Parking: We recommend Union Depot Parking Lot B (240 Kellogg Blvd E, St. Paul, MN 55101). See parking options. The MAFP will provide Union Depot parking validation vouchers.
Transportation: Union Depot is easily accessible by public transportation. The MAFP will provide a shuttle for transportation between Union Depot and the Capitol campus.
Online participation: Available for the Resolution Forum only. A Zoom meeting link will be provided in your registration confirmation email.
Accommodations: Downtown St. Paul has multiple hotels within half a mile of Union Depot if you need overnight accommodations. (No hotel blocks are being held for this event.)
