Academic Affairs Committee

  • Chair: Jay Dirks
  • Staff Liaison: Lisa Regehr
  • Purpose: Promote the specialty of family medicine to medical students and family medicine residents; plan educational sessions for the Residency Recruitment Event, Academic Roundtable and customized educational programs for students

Communications and Member Services (COMS) Committee

  • Chair: Rosa Marroquin, MD
  • Staff Liaison: Tara Owens
  • Purpose: Drive member engagement and value for all MAFP members through recruitment, retention and recognition efforts; serve as advisory group for MAFP communications including the Minnesota Family Physician.

CME Committee

  • Chair: Michele Hanson, MD
  • Staff Liaison: Missy Machkhashvili
  • Purpose: Plan and promote the annual Spring Refresher and Summer Conference as well as other CME programs and activities to ensure relevance to Minnesota family physicians

Finance Committee

  • Chair: Kurt Angstman, MD
  • Staff Liaison: Maria Huntley
  • Purpose: Monitor financial resources/fiscal stability and explore opportunities for growth; review financial policies and annual operating budget to make recommendations for approval to the Board of Directors

Leadership Development Committee

  • Chair: Tariq Fareed, MD
  • Staff Liaison: Maria Huntley
  • Purpose: Make recommendations for MAFP leadership positions and AAFP National Conference of Constituency Leaders (NCCL) representatives; contact potential leaders about opportunities

Legislative Committee

  • Chair: Sam Hanson Willis, MD
  • Staff Liaison: Maria Huntley
  • Purpose: Make recommendations for MAFP positions on legislative matters affecting family physicians and their patients

Practice Enhancement and Patient Advocacy Committee

  • Chair: Alan Olson, MD
  • Staff Liaison: Maria Huntley
  • Purpose: Advocate for family physicians in all types of practice settings and encourage family physician involvement in health system change

Research and Quality Improvement Committee

  • Chair: Tanner Nissly, DO
  • Staff Liaison: Lisa Regehr
  • Purpose: Foster innovation and clinical research in family medicine by family physicians, residents and students; plan and promote the annual Innovation & Research Forum; work with the MAFP Research Network to encourage practice-based research efforts
