AAFP hosts the Family Medicine Advocacy Summit for members to better understand federal and state advocacy, learn about the current priorities for family medicine, and receive practical, hands-on experience with the legislative process—all in two days in Washington, D.C.

This year our Minnesota group received education about family medicine's federal legislative priorities and met with our Senators and Congressional Delegation to urge Congress to:

  • Maintain and expand coverage, protect safety-net programs, stabilize the insurance market, protect insurance reforms, reduce costs and increase investment in primary and preventive care.
  • Reauthorize and fund the innovative Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education program before the program (not currently in MN) which expires on September 30, 2017.
