The Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) announced today that it is seeking nominations from the public for the 2017 Minnesota Family Physician of the Year.
The award is presented annually to a family physician member who represents the highest ideals of the specialty of family medicine, including caring, comprehensive medical service and community involvement.
“Family physicians specialize in personal care. We ensure that a community’s health needs are being met,” said Dania Kamp, MD, president of the MAFP.
“We continue to be on the front lines of a complex medical system. We are trained to manage all types of medical problems for people of all ages and provide the most up-to-date preventive care to manage our patients' health long-term. This award honors the physician who best exemplifies the role of the family physician in the community.”
Nominations will be accepted through January 27, 2017 and can be be made online at mafp.org/nominate.
Nominators will be asked to describe how the candidate demonstrates compassion and the quality of their professional care and provide examples of community involvement.
The winner will be announced at the annual Spring Refresher on April 20, 2017, at The Depot Minneapolis.
