Family Physicians Honor Retiring Executive Vice President with Merit Award

Virginia Barzan, CAE, Minneapolis, MN, received the 2015 Merit Award from the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP).
The Merit Award recognizes a member who has worked diligently through the Academy to further the ideals of family medicine. Ms. Barzan was made a made a honorary lifetime member of the MAFP on April 15, 2015, during the MAFP House of Delegates, making her eligible for the Merit Award.
Ms. Barzan, MAFP executive vice president, is retiring in May after having served the MAFP and family medicine for more than 30 years.
2014-2015 MAFP President, Kurt Angstman, nominated Ms. Barzan for the award. It was presented to her at The Depot Minneapolis during the MAFP all-Member Celebration on Thursday, April 16, 2015.
The Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians is a professional association of approximately 3,000 family physicians, family medicine residents and medical students established to assist family physicians in providing quality medical care in Minnesota. The MAFP is the largest medical specialty organization in Minnesota and is a state chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians, one of the largest national medical organizations in the United States, with 115,900 members.
